Do you ever look at the full moon and see a face? I looked it up and wow, there a lot of stories from different cultures about the man in the moon. A common theme is that someone is banished to the moon for doing something bad.
The splotches that make up the face we see were formed by lava that covered up old craters and then cooled on the side that always faces Earth.
